When did you find out Community had been renewed?
I found out the same time the Internet found out. Everyone in L.A. reads Deadline Hollywood to find out about their own shows, so I had to wait for Nikki Finke just like everyone else.
Were you excited?
Yes, I was not ready for the show to end. To not know [if the show was coming back] on the last day of shooting this time was very sad. I think I was kind of in denial … we did an interview on that last day at lunch, and I started crying. I’m a big sap.
Comedy veterans David Guarascio and Moses Port have joined cult comedy series Community as executive producers/showrunners. Creator/executive producer Dan Harmon, who has run the underrated single-camera NBC series for its first three seasons, will be a consulting producer.
