WatchCommunity

dannypuddings:

(in case you missed it, the first #WatchCommunity post)

The #WatchCommunity campaign shall start on the 1st of December.
I’m making #WatchCommunity badges for people’s sidebars that should link to the blog, to raise awareness.
Right now, I’m working out a plan of action for the blog, which is most likely to be this:

I want it to be about the fans. Not mostly why we love it, but the fact that we love it. The #WatchCommunity blog isn’t going to be very much about the actual show- god knows there are enough Community blogs. It’s going to be about how much the show means to people and why we love the show (in a sense). The sidebar badges are going to be pretty ambiguous. I want people who don’t know what Community is to go, “What’s Community?”, and people who do know what Community is to go, “What’s this racket?”. THEN WE SHALL TRAP THEM.
There shall be different pages for:
how they can watch it
informing people about the matter at hand (which is NBC is a B).
testemonials of people who watch it and want others to watch it
say someone’s seen it once or twice and didn’t love it; a list of episodes that capture the Community spirit (like Modern Warfare, which seems to do it for most people, etc). I know I didn’t love the pilot, and now look at me!
a list of people by different fandoms to message. This is more of a reach-out-to-other-fandoms thing. If you watch Doctor Who, then you have the same likes (in one thing, sure, but whatever) as a person who watches Doctor Who but doesn’t watch Community. So, people who watch Doctor Who, or Supernatural, or Sherlock, or whatever the hell is out there, can ask people why they should watch Community in person. Like a contact group.
The blog won’t necessarily have inside jokes that are just going to confuse people and maybe even put them off. Of course, it will have it’s subtleties. Duh-Doy.
And then I want to celebrate people who have started watching Community. I’ll make badges or stickers or banners or whatever for their sidebars saying ‘I’m watching Community!’ I think sidebar banners are a weapon that we should use. If a lot of us have them, then it should definitely spark curiosity for some people. I’ll be making them in different colours and so on… also, we could make twitter banners or facebook headers later on… I’m still working on that part.
And, of course, we’ll also reblog #WatchCommunity posts that I’m hoping you guys will make! Needless to say, you should tag your #WatchCommunity posts with… guess what? #WatchCommunity.

The blog where things shall go down is here, and obviously it’s not finished. Hopefully we can get some sort of hype up, and then the blog will begin! (On December 1st. Obviously.)
I’m still trying to think of what people who don’t make gifs or graphics or anything can do to help other than have the banner/badge/sticker (I haven’t decided yet!) in their sidebar.
Needless to say, I’m up for suggestions! If you have any, message me here. There is no way I could do this alone, nor would I want to.
I’ll keep you all posted for more info.
With the internet, we should be unstoppable! Let’s put our amazingness to the test and make some noise!!!!

note: i’m not actually forcing you to do anything or to follow my schedule. you can do whatever you want regarding supporting the show. including this- if you want.

[inspired by this post and this blog]

community will air it’s fourth season on thursday, february 7, 2013 on NBC at 8PM EST. this means, you have the rest of this month, decemeber, and january to catch up on the previous three. if you’ve never seen it, i genuinely think you should start watching now.
it’s a smart little comedy that will make you laugh, cry, yell, and become an emotional wreck over it and it’s characters. (also, it is shipping galore.)
all of the previous episodes can be watched free here. catch up and watch the fourth season premiere on february 7th! watch a good amount of episodes before you judge the whole show, they’re only about 20 minutes each!
episodes i recommend: modern warfare, epidemiology, cooperative calligraphy, remedial chaos theory, horror fiction in seven spooky steps, digital estate planning

kyle-:

Do you know… Abed Nadir?
Being the pop culture aficionado that he is, Abed Nadir (played by Danny Pudi) is going to school to make movies (originally he was going to college for business so he could run his father’s falafel business). Seeing the world with TV screen glasses, Abed understands norms and mores through movies and television. One of his main motivations to be part of the study group was so his life could be like The Breakfast Club.
Abed is part-Palestinian (father) and part-Polish (mother). When he was younger, Abed’s parents divorced. Abed assumed that he put a strain on the relationship because he was neurally atypical. This caused a distant relationship with his father who he thinks blames him.
Being in the study group, Abed became best friends with Troy Barnes, former high school jock. They share similar interest like making blanket forts and watching Kickpuncher.
Fun Facts!
Abed has trouble reading analog clocks.
Abed likes to dress up as his favorite characters and pretend to be them. He makes an entire room inside his apartment to play out his fantasies.
Abed knows how to deliver a baby.
Significant Episodes:
Introduction to Film
Contemporary American Poultry
Abed’s Uncontrollable Christmas
Critical Film Studies
Virtual Systems Analysis
